Jennifer Tijerina

A life-long learner, Jennifer M. Tijerina holds a Master’s of Science in Health and Kinesiology from The University of Texas at San Antonio and double undergraduate degrees—a Bachelor of Arts in Government and a Bachelor of Science in Communication Studies from The University of Texas at Austin. Jennifer is currently pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Health Promotion and Behavioral Sciences at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston School of Public Health. She has nearly a decade of experience in public health institutions, most recently at LifeGift and the Cancer Prevention and Population Science Division at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. Originally from San Antonio, Jennifer began her career as a public health professional with positions at The University of Texas Health San Antonio and University Health System. She served as congressional staff at the U.S. House of Representatives on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C.
Jennifer sits on a number of professional organizations, the American Federation of Teachers (Local 0900) and the Sigma Lambda Gamma National Sorority Inc. Most recently, she was appointed to sit on the Harris Health System Board of Trustees. Jennifer is also an accomplished Spanish and flamenco dancer with notable stints with Raices de Arte Español Flamenco Dance Academy and Fiesta Noche Del Rio Dance Company. Jennifer lives with her husband, three children, and French bulldog ‘Billy,’ in Pasadena.
