Avenue and 30+ Local Organizations Partner on Outreach Event at Hilliard Elementary School
WHAT:
On Saturday, September 8, Avenue will join 30+ local organizations including the Office of New Americans & Immigrant Communities to host the Northeast Community Fair, an outreach event geared towards addressing the unmet needs that exist more than a year after Hurricane Harvey. Located at Hilliard Elementary School, the family-friendly event will offer Harvey-impacted Houstonians the opportunity to connect with valuable recovery resources including Avenue’s home repair program, disaster recovery case management, tips for avoiding foreclosures and legal advice. Interpretation services will be available on-site for Spanish speaking residents in need of assistance.
In addition to recovery resources offered through organizations like Avenue, Houston Food Bank, Bread of Life, Disaster & Humanitarian Services (DHS), Lone Star Legal Aid and others, residents attending the Northeast Community Fair will also have access to free health screenings, donated food and goods, and family-friendly activities including a Kid Zone and mobile library puppet show. Attendees can also enter a raffle to win $1,000 towards roof repair from MES Roofing and Repairs.
