Christine Gibson is one of thousands of Houstonians that were impacted and displaced by Hurricane Harvey. On the first anniversary of Hurricane Harvey, we take a look back at Avenue's continued recovery efforts through the Housing Recovery Center and home repair program. For the third year in a row, we showcased Stories of the Northside – an oral history project created to preserve, celebrate, and share the life experiences of longstanding residents in the Greater Northside. This was organized by Avenue, in collaboration with the Houston Metropolitan Research Center and University of Houston-Downtown.

In collaboration with Living Paradigm and Trees for Houston, Avenue spent a few days with volunteers, teaching homeowners how to mitigate rain water through landscaping to prevent flooding.
