Avenue is excited to have a new Near Northside Specialist on the Community Initiatives team, Carlos G. Espinoza y Sánchez. Carlos will be handling all coordination between civic clubs, schools, and agencies within the Near Northside Community. Bringing 7 years of urban planning & community development experience to Avenue, Carlos is very excited to be working with our agency and looking forward to work on many projects, ranging from safety routes to schools to identifying areas of reducing crime and connectivity projects.

Before working with Avenue, Carlos worked as a City Planner with the City of Houston Planning Department in various projects from the Complete Communities Initiative to the Walkable Places Ordinance Changes. In addition to this, Carlos worked for the private sector as a developer in the Greater Houston Area doing town-homes and high-rise developments.

Carlos will be seen in the Near Northside attending civic meetings, coffee with the principal meetings and other events in the next couple of months to get immersed in the Near Northside.
