Avenue COVID-19 Updates

Avenue is following the guidance of local government and public health officials and CDC recommendations to help prevent the spread of coronavirus, COVID-19, protect our employees, and keep the residents of our target communities informed.

Please see below for updates on Avenue’s response including service disruptions and modifications made at our offices.

Updated 3/31/2020

In accordance with the Stay Home-Work Safe order in Houston, all Avenue offices are closed through April 30. Avenue staff are working remotely during regular office hours and can be reached through email and phone. While telecommuting, all employees are encouraged to continue social distancing, hand-washing and practicing good respiratory hygiene. Many of our meetings and services have moved to virtual settings (see department details below) and all resident services are cancelled. Please continue to check this space for updates.

Service Disruptions

  • Resident Services in our multi-family rental communities:
    • All after-school enrichment programming, as well as parent engagement activities, at all our apartment properties are cancelled through the end of April
    • The food program in collaboration with Helping Hands will continue, following federal guidelines that encourage providers to continue as a source of support for the children/families but will require the children to take the food to eat at home. [Federal program’s pandemic policy allows for a waiver to the rule requiring the food to be served in a communal/social setting].  To find a Houston Food Bank partner distributing food, visit houstonfoodbank.org/covid19
    • Staff will continue to provide resources and referrals to support Financial Well-being for individual tenants while practicing social distancing
