Hurricane Harvey: One Year Later

In the twelve months since Hurricane Harvey made landfall in Houston, Avenue has evolved and grown to meet the need for disaster recovery assistance in underserved communities. With the addition of the Avenue Housing Recovery Center and an expanded home repair program, we geared up to take on the task of helping the most vulnerable Harvey-impacted Houstonians return to safe and healthy homes.
A year later, we look back at the work that brought us to where we are today and make a promise to continue to serve the communities impacted by Hurricane Harvey and those still displaced. We are thankful to each of you for your support.

Each family, each client, has a unique story of hardship and strength. Many of the clients we helped truly had nowhere else to turn. Hurricane Harvey damaged more than 135,000 homes. Few were covered by flood insurance, and many were owned by low income families with few resources to make repairs. The generous support that we received from volunteers, community partnersdonors and the Hurricane Harvey Relief Fund enabled us to add a whole new pillar of work in building resilient communities.
